Back into things

Back to the desk

I’ve just completed my fourth week back at work and we’ve all survived…just about!

The work itself isn’t too bad, after the initial panic at not being able to remember anything about my job! Things started coming back to me fairly quickly and now I feel a lot more confident about everything. I am working on a section I used to do before my maternity leave and it’s nice to see familiar faces and hear familiar voices..some better than others I might add.

Childcare has gone incredibly well, Tobin was a little unsettled to begin with but I think he coped well and is now smiling at Grannie and nursery whenever we get there. There are still a few tears as I leave but I’m told they don’t last long and if anything are a show to make me feel guilty because he’s really going to have a fun afternoon with Grannie.

Toast!!

Toast!!

In the midst of all the travelling and preparation we are still expanding Tobin’s diet and he’s now happy to munch on apple, bananas and toast although we have had to scale back his diet recently due to a dicky tummy. We initially thought it was fruit that brought it on but about 4 days later things still weren’t right so a trip to the doctors was needed. We were told that it could be a combination of the weather, teething, food or a slight infection. We stopped the yogurts and meat and diluted his milk for 4-5 days and hings seemed to get back to normal. We are pacing the introduction of new food now so that if anything does cuase problems we will be able to tell what it was. It seems yogurts upset him, as nursery gave him one the other day which set him off again…I suppose its good to know.

In general Tobin is coming on well, he is increasingly vocal and mobile. He is happier to sit and relax with us now, especially Daddy, they have lazy Saturday mornings together and Tobin made a lovely card for Father’s Day at nursery, he even signed it himself!  I don’t know that I’d say he’s close to crawling but he does shuffle well and loves to circle on the rug in the lounge. He is very interested in shapes and stacking toys and can turn a tidy room into a bomb site with very few toys. Still no teeth but plenty of teething and dribbling so I don’t think its far off, then its time to watch your fingers!

I can’t believe he is nearly 9 months old, it’ll be his birthday before I know it. It has gone so fast but I’ve enjoyred every minute of it and if I could I would happily rewind the last year and live it over and over again.
