Six months on

Tobin and Mummy

Tobin and Mummy

Unbelievably, it’s now just over six months since Tobin was born and it has absolutely flown by. Thinking back to the birth now it seems like a lifetime ago but it also feels like Tobin is far too big already and that we are hurtling towards his first birthday without having chance to draw breath.

He is continuing well with his food and seems pretty happy eating most things. He likes anything with chicken in and loves his fruity puddings. I’ve also tried him on actual apples, I’ve been cutting big bits off and letting him suck on them which he seems to enjoy. He’s also had some celery to chomp on this week, he didn’t seem to like the taste that much but regardless carried on biting it so I’ve bought some carrots for him to chomp on this week and some banana’s to mash up for him. I’m really glad that he’s enjoying trying things and isn’t being difficult with anything…yet!

Tobin now has a very cool little walker that Daddy kindly treated him to at the weekend. He really likes sitting up in it and likes to set of his music and launch sequence that are built into the play tray (which doesn’t have an off button or volume control..a tad unfair of the toy company!).

I love my walker!

I love my walker!

On a Mummy note, I feel like I’m making some progress body-wise. I’m still exercising as close to three times a week as possible and taking Tobin for a walk around the block most days. I’m trying to minimise the amount of junk I eat and am having cereals for lunch rather than a sandwich and crisps (which I seem to have been eating for lunch for ages, even when I was at work it was either a sandwich or salad and a bag of crisps..bit of a bad habit I guess). I’m starting to see more of my pre-pregnancy shape returning (slowly) and have even started to wear some of my old tops again.

It’s my birthday today and I’m hoping to treat myself with a shopping trip. I’m in need of some new work clothes and summer clothes, as last summer I was 6 months plus pregnant so all of my summer tops are slightly too big for me now and the previous summer’s clothes look somewhat dated and neglected in the bottom of my drawers.

As a family we are looking forward to the Easter break next weekend and Tobin and I are looking forward to having Daddy home for the extra few days. We are planning to move Tobin into his nursery full time, as he has slept in with us either in his Moses basket or cot since birth. I’m pretty sure that he’ll be fine, it’ll probably be more of an adjustment for me. It’s comforting to just be able to lift my head up and see him but I’m sure that after a week or so it’ll be pleasant to have our room back and Tobin will be able to fully enjoy his farm inspired nursery (pictures to follow once the room is all set up again, it’s storing excess furniture at the minute).
