It’s been a while since I managed to get sat down to write and we’ve had a few developments including baby massage classes, returns to work and a new bed for Tobin!
Yes, our little trooper is now sleeping through the night in his cot. My other half decided we should let him try it on Sunday night so a couple of hours later and much furniture moving by the other half later Tobin’s cot was situated in our room where the Moses basket used to live. We weren’t really sure what to expect, we’d managed to get Tobin to sleep in the cot for afternoon naps but that was it. We bathed him and put him down as usual and sat in wait.
I think there was one cry during the evening which is fairly normal as he normally spits his dummy out once or twice and cries for it. So we went to bed feeling hopeful about the night ahead. We were woken at about 3am and there were a few niggles from Tobin but it was clear he was shattered and I think just waking up in a much bigger and different space scared him a little. After a few trips by me and the other half to calm him and replace the lost dummy he settled again and slept through until about 7.20am. Last night was better, he didn’t wake through the night at all but did decide to wake up when Daddy went to work and he didn’t go back to sleep but he’s done so well to adjust so quickly so we’re both very proud of him.
Another of the new activites is our baby massage sessions. We had our first one yesterday and it concentrated on the legs and feet. Tobin seemed to enjoy it and it was nice meeting other Mum’s and of course babies in a less pressured environment. It was a case of talking naturally as things came up rather than feeling forced to speak if you know what I mean. Next week’s session will cover the chest, stomach and face area and include what we’ve already learned on the legs and the following week will be back massage plus chest, legs etc so Tobin is definiately in for a treat! It’s a really good idea and a nice activity for parent’s and babies and especially good as it’s free.
I had to visit work last week to discuss the dreaded return to work, which I’m not looking forward to at all and I told work the same thing but as most of them are Mum’s themselves they know exactly how I feel. I’m planning to return for four afternoon’s a week and thanks to a generous Grannie, I will probably only be outting Tobin in nursery one afternoon a week. That way he gets some interaction with other babies too. Me and the other half are visiting the nursery we want Tobin to go to on Thursday to get a prospectus and more than likely pass out when they tell us the price but I think it’s worth doing and its on’y around the corner from work. I can’t quite understand all of the benefit stuff so I have no clue whether we get help with nursery fee’s or not, once I know how much everything is I’ll get on to Citizen’s advice and try and get it worked out so I know where I am. Nothing is straight forward lol.
Me, Tobin and my sisters went to visit our Grandfather today, he was pleased to see Tobin and couldn’t believe how much he had grown since Christmas. And we had a visit from Auntie Kay at the weekend (as pictured) and got anothe smiling photo, he’s getting the hang of it now. After a busy week or so I think me and tobin will have a relaxing day tomorrow and make plenty of time for play, I’m going to make the most of my remaining time off now!
Make sure you do make the most of your time off that you have left, it will be far more fun at home than at work. Take care xx
